Sport at University North has been developing since 2014, when a student sports club was founded. It opened training and competitions to everyone in the sports organised by the Croatian Academic Sports Federation (HASS), the umbrella organisation of university sport in Croatia.
Today the association is active in two university centres, Varaždin and Koprivnica. Through HASS it is part of the European University Sports Association (EUSA) and the International University Sports Federation (FISU).
The Academic Sports Association University North was founded at its founding assembly on 26 November 2025 and entered in the Register of Associations on 9 December 2025. Its aim is to promote, improve, broaden and develop sport at University North in an organised way.
